He noticed this couple, Kyle and Kristen Upham, admiring a beautiful pair of engagement rings.

At $10,000, the set was way out of their price range. The couple decided to move along.
Before they left, they struck up a conversation with the actor after recognizing him.
This was when Walker learned that Kyle had just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq. In an interview with CBS, Kristen said, 'I remember seeing the look in his face. He kind of transformed.'
