Displaced Bear Cub Needs Your Help.
There is probably no other creature on the planet that can show you more love than a dog. All they ask in return is for the same fierce devotion. But sadly, some pet owners tend to abandon their dogs instead of giving them unconditional love. That’s exactly what one man assumed had happened when he found a little brown furball in his front yard in February. But little did he know that what he had stumbled on wasn’t in fact a dog, but something entirely different. And yet, it needed help badly and would do so again not long after that.
According to Four Paws International, the man had mistakenly assumed he saw a puppy in his yard.
But the animal rescue and advocacy organization pointed out that this puppy was unlike any pooch the man had ever seen before. For starters, he had never seen a dog with claws as sharp as the ones this ‘puppy’ had.
It didn’t take long for the man to figure out that the animal wasn’t a dog, but rather a brown bear.
The authorities eventually came by to take the cub back to the woods where it would hopefully find its mom and live happily ever after. Well, that’s what they claimed at least. But like the cub, everything wasn’t what it appeared to be.
The cub’s mother lives in Kosovo’s Sharr Mountains National Park, but the cub didn’t go there.
Instead of reuniting the cub with its mother, the park rangers decided to break the law and keep the animal stowed away in the dank basement of a restaurant owned by one of the rangers. And now, the animal’s condition is dire, according to Four Paws.
Someone from Four Paws went undercover and shot footage of where the cub was being held.
The tiny, helpless cub is currently kept in a wooden crate. His mobility is extremely limited and he barely, if ever, gets to see the sunlight. And it’s pretty tragic too because salvation isn’t that far away.
The Bear Sanctuary Prishtina in Kosovo would have been the ideal spot for the cub to live in.
If he was in the sanctuary, he would be able to grow amongst his own kind and would never have to be afraid of any harm coming to him. But the government is now refusing to have the cub released from its current confinement.
