Have you ever wanted to kiss your significant other, but they're on the other side of the country or even the world? It's tough, but then no one said long-distance relationships were easy, and not having that tangible physical intimacy in your life can totally make your heart hurt badly. But imagine if electronics could bring you that much closer to the one you love? Well now thanks to the Imagineering Lab at City University London, you no longer have to wait to smooch with the love of your life. It will turn your mobile phone into one amazing kissing machine.
The researchers at Imagineering Lab have created a gadget that mimics a real kiss using actuators and pressure sensors.
Just don't expect a miracle. It's only for regular pecks, but certainly not designed for any tongue action, at least for now.
You simply hook up the device, which links to a messaging app on your phone. When you kiss, the Kissenger detects the pressure on the different parts of the sender's lips and replicates exactly on your significant other's Kissenger.
Unfortunately, the silicone may feel cold and clearly nowhere near as good or as tasty as pressing lips with your honey, but it's still the next best thing until you see each other face to face.
So far, the researchers have tested it on an iOS device that hooks up into the phone's headphone jack. If you were to try this on an iPhone 7 which has no headphone jack, you'd be out of luck. In the meantime, all we can do is dream of the day that this device will hit the stores so we can kiss that distant lover, a family member, a friend, or maybe even a sexy celebrity.
