Edible Six-Pack Rings Let You Save The Oceans One Beer At A Time.

Science |

The rings can be consumed by marine life. They are also 100% biodegradable and compostable.

The number of marine life and birds ingesting garbage thrown in the ocean is staggering. The plastic six-pack rings used for beer are notorious for choking animals. Often times animals confuse this garbage for food. Plastic cannot be broken down, therefore, it sits in the stomach eventually blocking their digestive tracts.

Saltwater Brewery from Delray Beach, Florida, has created an edible six-pack ring that feeds marine life when it finds its way in the ocean. The rings are safe to eat for humans and animals alike. They are made from barley and wheat, during the brewing process. The company does not want to be the only player being environmentally safe. In fact, they want the bigger companies to also join forces in saving marine life.
