Shipping containers have already become a popular pet project for the world's hippest architects and designers - much like the tiny house, a shipping container is an affordable and economic alternative to housing, and there are no shortage of them in industrialized areas.
In Ireland, one architectural firm decided to put their first shipping container project to good use. Designed by Ceardean Architects, a 60-person team built the home in about three days, and then donated it to St. Vincent de Paul charity. The container will be used as housing for the homeless, and is a first step in what might be a revolutionary way give thousands of homeless people adequate shelter.
