When it comes to returning an unwanted item, our experiences land on a spectrum from painless to infuriating, depending on the company policy and customer service representatives. Texas mom Kelly Blue Kinkel, however, had quite the experience with Zulily -- and she didn't even have to leave the house!
Kinkel ordered a winter coat, but upon receiving it realized that the coat material wouldn't jive well with her two dogs. She was able to determine this without opening the package.
Next, she called customer service for return instructions and was told that she would be refunded immediately. The young representative, Patrick, added: "“Please don’t send it back. If you know someone who needs a winter coat or if you would like to donate it to a charity, that would make us very happy.”
The young mother reportedly thought he was joking and came to tears when she realized he was being serious. She shared the story on Facebook writing:
"I just don’t know other companies that do this, do you? I thought Zulily was pretty incredible before, but after today, I’m a customer for LIFE. The world needs more LOVE like that. Honest business. Honest ethics. How refreshing!"
Zulily is an e-commerce company based in Seattle that works with thousands of brands to list new deals for customers -- mainly "young, savvy-tech mothers" -- every morning. Their slogan is "Something special every day," and what a special story indeed!
